MOTORIST FROM AVON KILLED IN N.C. 12 CRASH WITH TRUCK----
   An avon man was killed wednesday when he was thrown from his vehicle after it was struck by a tractor-trailer.
   Justin Keith Yopp, 18, was pronounced dead shortly after the 3 pm accident, police said.
    According to Suzette Wells-Davis of North Carolina Highway Patrol, the accident report said Yopp was southbound on N.C. 12, south of Salvo, when the truck, driven by Ronald Edwards Betts, 43, of Portsmouth, ran off the northbound lane to the right, steered back to the road,then crossed the center line, hitting Yopp's 1989 chevy pickup.
    Yopp's vehicle spun around, and he was ejected onto the east shoulder of the road. He was transported to Avon Medical Center.
    The tractor-trailer, owned by Ryder Transportation Services of Richmond, came to rest across both lanes of N.C. 12. Betts was uninjured and declined to be transported to a medical facility.
   Betts was not charged.
